GGB to Present Paper, Exhibit at Hydro Bordeaux

Published on:23 Sep,2015

GGB Bearing Technology’s principal engineer for tribological materials, Michael Kim, will present a paper on wicket gate bearing applications at the upcoming Hydro 2015 show in Bordeaux, France, October 26-28. GGB is exhibiting at Booth #66.

Titled “The Reduction of Tribo-oxidative Wear in High Frequency, Low Amplitude Oscillation for Wicket Gate Bearing Applications,” the paper examines how the use of self-lubricating, fiber/resin composite bearings can reduce or eliminate this phenomenon for less system wear and improved bearing life. It is based on a study of the performance of various types of self-lubricating bearings and their impact on tribo-oxidative wear. Also examined was the effect of shaft composition in these applications.

The paper was co-authored by Elena Wapner, application engineering leader for GGB’s aerospace and renewable energy segment; Heitor Sarro, application engineering leader for its industrial segment; and Luís Ruscitto, application engineering supervisor for the renewable energy segment.
