ACCIONA Windpower, an ACCIONA group subsidiary dedicated to the design, manufacture and sale of wind turbines, has completed a turbine supply agreement with Building Energy for a 30 MW wind power project located in central Iowa. Under the agreement, ACCIONA Windpower will deliver ten AW125-3000 turbines and provide operations and maintenance services to the project for ten years.

Each of the turbines will have a rotor diameter of 125 meters and a 3 megawatt generator mounted on an 87.5 meter steel tower, a configuration designed for maximum production at the lowest cost of energy. This project will expand ACCIONA Windpower’s footprint in the United States to over 1,400 MW. ACCIONA Windpower will support the project from its North American headquarters in West Branch, Iowa.

Building Energy is a global renewable energy company with experience in 24 countries worldwide. The Iowa project will be Building Energy’s first wind farm in the United States. It is expected to be online by November 2016 and will supply electricity to Alliant Energy.
