March 3 (SeeNews) - Spanish wind turbine maker Gamesa (MCE:GAM) said on Thursday it will build a 70-MW wind park in Uruguay for Rafisa, a trustee of the Financiero Arias Trust that is managed by Uruguayan state utility UTE.

The contract calls for Gamesa to supply, erect and commission 35 of its G114-2.0 MW turbines for the Colonia Arias project in the department of Flores. The company will also be in charge of civil works and the needed electrical installations, as well as of the operation and maintenance of the facility for a period of 15 years following completion.

Gamesa expects to ship the turbines next December so that the wind park can be commissioned during the second quarter of 2017.

The Spanish firm has so far installed and currently maintains about 200 MW in Uruguay. Including the new order, it now has secured contracts and agreements for the supply of a further 190 MW. Gamesa is also working on another UTE project -- the 70-MW Valentines wind scheme that is expected to go online during the second half of the year.
