Schaeffler recognized at an early stage that future increases in volume would take place outside of Europe. "This is why we started our localization activities many years ago. We have been present in South America for 55 years and in North America for more than 40 years. Our brands have been present in Asia for over 50 years. And we have also been in China for over two decades and increased our growth in good time", explains Mr. Dangel.
Our Asian business activities in the Asia Pacific region are managed from our headquarters established in 2007 in Shanghai. The Schaeffler Group has subsidiaries in the People’s Republic of China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia and India, which all provide full support throughout the region. We currently have 13 production sites that provide direct support for the Automotive and Industrial divisions. In addition, ten regional development centers ensure that support is available to our Asian customers quickly and for their specific application.
