Currently, Jilin Zhongyan High Performance Plastic Co., Ltd co-developed a customized seal product for high temperature application with a large seal manufacturer.
Compared to traditional PTFE seal, this product has better performance at high temperature and excellent considerable resistance to corrosion. To ensure the sealing effect, large force has been applied to the product to avoid "creep" phenomenon from occuring when it is under long-term stress.
An engineer of the seal manufacturer who is very experienced in the sealing field said, "The application of FD-PEEK perfectly solved the problems we encoutered when try to meet the customer's stringent requirements, and we have received a good feedback from the customer."
There was also unexpected discovery in the testing process: a good wear resistance can be gained by adding FD-PEEK to PTFE. "We have never seen a filler material of so low wear rate," the engineer said. He also said that they will add FD-PEEK to the automotive oil seal product range, as an attempt to further improve the wear resistance of their products.
