Goldwind grid-links next-generation 3MW flagship
Goldwind has connected its flagship GW3S machine to the Chinese grid, the OEM reports.
The 140-metre-rotor prototype, located in Zhangbei Grassland in Hebei province, has a rated capacity of 3.4MW.
“The GW3S, as Goldwind’s next generation of 3.x MW platform, features scalable 3.0-3.5MW capacity, smart turbine controls and a structured design,” says a spokeswoman.
“This product platform was originated from Goldwind’s permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) turbine technology, which has accumulated a track record of over 18,000 units of 1.5MW and 2.5MW turbines globally.”
Goldwind executive vice president Wu Kai tells Recharge: "Goldwind is committed to continuous technological innovation and product upgrade, so as to extract and create maximum values for our customers by integrating superior resources and providing higher quality products.
"With this prototype successfully connected to the grid, we took an important step towards implementing our international strategy. The GW3S models will play an important role in the future market."
