Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM in the DTM at Moscow

Resource from: 20 Jul,2017
This coming weekend (22 to 23 July), Schaeffler gets underway in the DTM again in Russia. Driver Mike Rockenfeller has recovered from his heavy accident at the Norising and is planning to compete again in the Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM.

Eight races have been completed in the 2017 DTM and ten more remain: for the halfway event, the international touring car series heads to Moscow. The 3.931-kilometer-long Moscow Raceway is located approximately one-and-a-half hours by car from the city center and thus from the Schaeffler sales company. Since 2014, the technology group has also been manufacturing at the plant in Uljanowsk.

In his heavy accident in the second race at the previous race weekend at the Norisring, Mike Rockenfeller, veteran driver in the Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM, suffered a fracture of the metatarsal in his left foot. Thanks to a fast recovery and a special bandage for his left racing shoe, the long-time Schaeffler ambassador is planning to compete again. “Rocky” has won two of the six DTM races held so far in Moscow and is therefore the record winner. The current season is also shaping up promisingly for him, having taken six point results so far. He currently occupies eighth place in the drivers’ rankings.

Schaeffler has been involved in the DTM since the 1980s. In 2011 and 2013, the company was the main sponsor of the vehicles of Martin Tomczyk and Mike Rockenfeller – the last two drivers’ title winners for Audi. In the most popular international touring car racing series, traditional vehicles with internal combustion engines are used. Schaeffler also plays an important role in this field with innovative technologies and products for the automotive industry, making the combustion engine powertrain efficient and fit for mobility for tomorrow.
