New large vanadium-titanium magnetite deposit discovered in Xinjiang

Reporters learned from the Hami Geological Brigade of the Xinjiang Geological Bureau that geological staff recently discovered a large vanadium-titanium magnetite deposit in the Weiya mining area of Daquanwan Township, Yizhong District, Hami City, Xinjiang. It is predicted that the iron ore resources will reach 358 million tons, the associated titanium resources will be 21.5 million tons, and the associated phosphorus resources will be 5.55 million tons.

According to relevant staff of the Hami Geological Brigade of the Xinjiang Geological Bureau, this deposit has reached the scale of a large iron ore, a large titanium ore, and a medium-sized phosphate mine. The deep and peripheral parts of the mining area still have good mineralization conditions and huge prospecting potential. It has positive significance for improving my country's resource guarantee capabilities for iron ore, titanium ore, and phosphate, and can provide reference and reference for the exploration of vanadium-titanium magnetite in areas with similar geological conditions.

Vanadium-titanium magnetite is a composite ore with polymetallic elements, mainly composed of iron, vanadium and titanium. Geologists discovered thick impregnated ore bodies and penetrating block ore bodies in the Taiya mining area after comprehensive exploration, evaluation and research based on the collection and research of previous geological survey results, using drilling as the main verification method.

 Relevant personnel from the Xinjiang Natural Resources Department introduced that since my country implemented a new round of strategic actions for mineral exploration breakthroughs in 2023, the amount of strategic mineral resources such as iron, gold, beryllium, antimony, potassium, lithium, and fluorite in Xinjiang has increased significantly, and the "14th Five-Year Plan" new resource volume task issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources has been exceeded.
