Morgan Equipment Boosts Production For Qasco Dubat Morgan Construction Company has provided and installed new drives and an automation system for QASCO Dubai’s wire rod mill in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which has seen production rates increase about 25 percent and also product quality enhancement. The equipment recently passed acceptance tests. The new system was installed to increase production speed to 55 m/sec for the mill’s low carbon and low alloy steel grade 5.5 mm wire rods, which has increased production from 180,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) to about 240,000 TPA. The mill produces low carbon and low alloy steel grade wire rods ranging in diameter from 5.5mm to 12mm. The new equipment was delivered and commissioned in August 2005 and passed the performance guarantee in early 2006. Mill production is now up about 25 percent.
