Laying of the foundation stone for the Würth Industrial Park in Shenyang
The first stone has been laid and things are supposed to advance in big steps: In the presence of Alois Wimmer, Executive Vice President of the Würth Group, and Song Qi, Deputy Mayor City of Shenyang, the foundation stone for the Würth Industrial Park in Shenyang was laid within the framework of a traditional Chinese ceremony on August 1, 2007. With that, the construction work for the project that for the time being comprises an investment volume of USD 30 million has begun.
On a floor area of 30 hectares the Würth Group intends to build production sites meant for opening up the Chinese market in several stages of completion. At the beginning, it is planned to employ 400 people at this location. This number is supposed to be gradually stepped up to a total of 3,000 in the final stage of the extension process. Arnold Fasteners (Shenyang) Co., Ltd. is the first company that was founded to settle down in the Industrial Park of the Würth Group.
Expected production start in fall 2008
In the first extension stage production halls and technical administration buildings will be erected for Arnold Fasteners (Shenyang) Co., Ltd. on an area of 13 hectares. For the time being, the offices of Würth (China) Holding Co., Ltd. will be housed there as well. The buildings are to be finished in September 2008 so that the production can be expected to start in October 2008. From preparation of the wire over the mechanical cold-forming up to the steps of hardening and electroplating Arnold Fasteners (Shenyang) Co., Ltd. covers all value-added steps of modern screw production. The construction of the administration building for Würth (China) Holding Co., Ltd. will begin in two to three years.
Probably from 2010 on, it is planned to gradually erect buildings for further manufacturing companies of the Würth Group on the remaining 17 hectares of the Industrial Park.

On the decorated place of the ceremony directly situated behind the building site, over 100 government representatives, journalists, customers and employees were received. They followed an invitation of the Würth Project Team Shenyang. In his opening speech Song Qi, Deputy Mayor City of Shenyang, underlined the great significance of the investment for the city and the region in the northeast of China: “The Würth Industrial Park is an important contribution to the structural change of our city and of our province. By establishing manufacturing companies and the Würth China Holding the Würth Group shows that Shenyang is an attractive location for international Groups of companies. It has been proven that in Shenyang one cannot only manufacture but also successfully control and coordinate China-wide company activities.”
Alois Wimmer, Executive Vice President of the Würth Group, supported the words of Song Qi by saying: “The project Würth Industrial Park Shenyang is driven by the vibrant curiosity of the Würth Group about the Chinese market as well as the Chinese culture. We feel unrestrained joy in learning new things and in taking the numerous chances China offers. Shenyang offers the Würth Group ideal conditions for the foundation of enterprises. Both the foundation of the company and the prerequisites for the establishment of a modern and future-oriented production site could be achieved in record time. For the non-Chinese employees of Würth in the city Shenyang has turned into a second home town.
In a speech Alois Wimmer passed on the words of thanks by Professor Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group's Family Trusts, to all project partners. He emphasized the sustainability of the Würth Group's commitment in China: “The investments in Shenyang are an important prerequisite for the further worldwide success of the Würth Group. Today’s laying of the foundation stone is an important milestone in our company history.”
After the speeches and the joint laying of the foundation stone the ceremony was festively continued with traditional lion and drum dances that are considered to be symbols of luck and success in the region, and with a final gala dinner.
