Enbridge acquires 103MW US wind power project from EverPower

Canadian energy firm Enbridge is the new owner for the 103MW New Creek wind project in West Virginia, US, following a $200m acquisition from EverPower Wind.
The wind power facility is being developed in Grant County and has been scheduled for commission in December 2016.
The power plant will be developed under a fixed-price engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement with White Construction, and will feature 49 units of Gamesa G97/G90 turbines.
Gamesa will also offer turbine operations and maintenance (O&M) services for the facility under a five-year fixed price contract.
"With strong fundamentals and commercial underpinnings, the New Creek Wind Project … advances a key corporate priority of growing our renewable generation platform."
The wind power development is backed by renewable energy credit (REC) sales and off take agreements, with fixed pricing through mid-and-long-term contracts.
Enbridge chief development officer and corporate planning senior vice-president Vern Yu said: "With strong fundamentals and commercial underpinnings, the New Creek Wind Project is a strong fit within our low-risk value proposition, and advances a key corporate priority of growing our renewable generation platform."
This acquisition raises Enbridge's investment in renewable power sector to nearly C$5bn ($3.75bn) since 2002.
Earlier this month, the firm signed a deal with E.on to acquire a 24.9% stake in the 400MW Rampion wind project for C$750m ($569.8m).
The firm, which seeks to expand its portfolio with wind, solar and geothermal power projects, presently holds interests in almost 2GW of net renewable and alternative generating capacity.
