Recently, the CCTV News channel's special program "Striving for a New Journey on the Road to a powerful country - Tour of the Republic" reported on Dongfang Electric's Fujian base, showing the assembly site of a world-leading 18 MW offshore wind turbine. This shows that LYC has made important progress in supporting bearings for offshore high-power wind turbines and is at the forefront of the industry.

LYC supports giant offshore wind turbines

In the report on September 19, the reporter went deep into the Fujian base of Dongfang Electric and broadcast the installation of this giant offshore wind turbine live. The shaft provides key bearing components for the 18MW offshore wind turbine, currently the world's largest installed capacity. Previously, the company has successfully provided bearing support for the world's first 16 MW ultra-large capacity offshore wind turbine and achieved large-scale operation. This time, the company has once again made an important contribution to the development of the global wind power industry, consolidating its leading position in the field of high-power offshore wind power bearing design and manufacturing.

The 18-megawatt offshore wind turbine project is a key project carried out by China Resources Group in cooperation with Dongfang Electric Group, which plans to install 40 turbines, making it one of the largest such projects in the world.

In this project, the bearings provided by LYC are mainly used in the yaw and variable pitch system of the fan. The maximum diameter of these bearings reaches 5.6 meters and the individual weight exceeds 13 tons. In order to ensure product quality, the R & D and production team of LYC adopts a new production process according to the actual conditions of use, using the previous accumulated experience and technology. Especially for the quenching treatment of variable pitch bearings, due to the complex shape of its internal raceway, the processing is more difficult, LYC through innovative methods to solve this problem, through repeated trials to ensure the quality of the hardened layer, and improve the quality of the axial raceway and the rib joint after quenching. In addition, during the processing, the shaft also strictly controls the straightness and surface roughness of the radial raceway to ensure the one-time assembly of the product.

The successful application of yaw and variable pitch bearings for 18 MW offshore wind turbines not only reflects the ability of LYC to achieve serialization and mass supply of bearings for offshore high-power wind turbines, but also highlights its leadership position in the field.
