Deqing innovation-driven: Tianma Bearing technological innovation leads the industry development

Zhejiang Tianma Bearing Group Co., Ltd., located in Leidian Town, Deqing County, is stepping up production of a batch of orders that will be sent to domestic high-end equipment manufacturing companies. This batch of products will be used for heavy machinery and are high-speed, precision and heavy-duty bearings independently developed by the company. Tianma Bearing said that this technology broke the foreign monopoly and achieved domestic substitution, saving 2.7 million yuan in costs for the first batch of 30,000 sets of orders.

This bearing is one of the results of Tianma Bearing's provincial key R&D project "High-speed, precision and heavy-duty bearing design, research and development and industrialization", which can be widely used in CNC machine tools, wind power generation, automobile manufacturing, aerospace and shipbuilding. After localization, the cost has been reduced by about 25%. As a "single champion" demonstration enterprise in China's manufacturing industry, Tianma Bearing's annual R&D investment accounts for about 4% of its sales revenue. Shi Dafang, director of the technical center, said that continuous R&D investment is the key to maintaining competitiveness.

In recent years, Deqing County has taken "innovation-driven county" as its primary development strategy, and has promoted the high-quality development of the county economy by cultivating innovative entities, building high-level platforms and conquering core technologies. According to data from the Provincial Bureau of Statistics, Deqing's R&D investment intensity in 2023 reached 4.25%, ranking second among counties in the province, and has remained at the forefront for six consecutive years.

In order to further enhance the innovation capabilities of enterprises, the Deqing County Science and Technology Bureau implemented the "Innovation Companion" enterprise assistance action and issued a series of policy documents to help enterprises improve their innovation capabilities and professional levels. Up to now, the county has cultivated a total of 442 high-tech enterprises and 1,838 provincial-level technology-based enterprises; 43 provincial-level enterprise research institutes and 144 provincial-level high-tech enterprise R&D centers have been identified, ranking first in the city in total.

High-level scientific and technological innovation platforms are an important support for Deqing County's high-intensity R&D investment. This year, Deqing has promoted the entity operation of high-level scientific and technological innovation platforms such as Moganshan Geospatial Laboratory and Moganshan Geomagnetic Large Scientific Device Research Institute around the "Geo-information Peaking" action, and has introduced 4 scientific research teams and built 7 joint laboratories. The "Zhejiang University of Technology Innovation Economic Circle" is also accelerating its construction. Relying on the Moganshan Research Institute of Zhejiang University of Technology, it has put into use a 230,000 square meter industrial innovation park and a 96,000 square meter university science and technology park, established six major innovation platforms such as carbon neutrality and equipment manufacturing concept verification, and incubated more than 100 companies.

Today, high-tech industry investment projects with a total investment of more than 300 million yuan in Deqing County account for 94.7%, and the industrial structure continues to optimize. The added value of strategic emerging industries, high-tech industries and equipment manufacturing industries increased by 6.5%, 8.4% and 13.8% year-on-year respectively. From January to October this year, the R&D investment of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 3.41 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.9%; the industrial output value above designated size reached 125.15 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6%.
