CSIC Haizhuang Wind Power innovates wind turbine bearing life prediction technology to break through existing limitations

In a recent patent application, China CSSC Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd. demonstrated a new method for predicting the life of wind turbine bearings. The application was submitted to the State Intellectual Property Office in October 2024 and was first reported by the financial community on March 18, 2025. The patent application is named "A method, system, device and storage medium for predicting the life of wind turbine bearings", and the publication number is CN 119623235 A.

This new technology aims to improve the evaluation method of the remaining useful life (RUL) of existing wind turbine bearings. Specifically, it first collects the vibration data of wind turbine bearings throughout their entire service life and converts these data into feature matrices. Next, a specially designed attention convolution long short-term memory network model is used to process part of these feature matrices to predict the state at future moments. After combining with the original feature matrix and performing specific processing, the generated prediction value can be used to determine whether the bearing is approaching the end of its service life. This process is repeated until the prediction result shows that the bearing is about to fail. This method significantly improves the prediction accuracy and efficiency, overcoming the shortcomings of the traditional LSTM model.
