Mechanical Industry Organizes Symposium on Economic-Trade Friction Mitigation Strategies
On the afternoon of April 23, 2025, the Expert Committee of China Machinery Industry Federation (hereinafter referred to as "the Expert Committee") convened a thematic seminar on strategies for addressing economic and trade frictions in Beijing. The meeting was chaired by Chen Bin, Vice Chairman of the Expert Committee, with Luo Junjie, Executive Vice President of China Machinery Industry Federation and Vice Chairman of the Expert Committee, in attendance.
At the meeting, China Machinery Industry Federation reported on key performance indicators of the machinery industry for the first quarter of 2025. Researcher Liu Jiajun from the Institute of Industrial Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences analyzed the underlying dynamics of Sino-U.S. economic and trade frictions and their impact on global industrial and supply chains. Committee members and experts engaged in discussions on how these frictions affect the machinery sector and explored strategic countermeasures.
Participants unanimously agreed that the U.S.-initiated trade frictions violate market economy principles and international trade rules, harming not only China but also other WTO members. Such actions undermine the foundation of the global multilateral trading system and will ultimately jeopardize America's long-term interests.
Xu Haidong, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM); Guo Zhenyan, Vice President of the China Electrical Equipment Industrial Association (CEEIA); Su Zimeng, President of the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA); Niu Hui, Secretary-General of the China Bearing Industry Association (CBIA); Wang Shichao, Deputy Secretary-General of the China General Machinery Industry Association (CGMA); Ming Cuixin, Deputy Secretary-General of the China General Machine Components Industry Association (CGMCIA); and Wu Jianlun, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Plastics Machinery Industry Association (CPMIA) delivered speeches on behalf of their respective sectors. Relevant department heads from the International Affairs Division, Statistics Division, and Industrial Development Division also participated in the meeting.
