The successful deployment of China produced high-performance sliding bearings contributes to the stable operation of oil delivery systems
Recently, the Eastern Crude Oil Storage and Transportation Company of PipeChina announced that its independently developed high-speed, heavy-load sliding bearings, jointly produced with domestic manufacturers, have been installed at multiple oil pumping stations and passed an eight-month operational test. Results confirm stable performance and effective temperature control, marking a substantial breakthrough in import substitution.
For a long time, sliding bearings in oil pipeline pump units have faced challenges with excessive temperature rise under high-load, high-speed conditions, compromising operational safety and efficiency. To address this technical bottleneck, the Eastern Crude Oil Storage and Transportation Company launched a dedicated R&D initiative, collaborating with domestic bearing manufacturers possessing core technical expertise.
The project team systematically optimized traditional sliding bearings through structural design, material selection, and lubrication methods. After multiple rounds of testing, they successfully developed a new generation of bearings suitable for high-speed, high-torque applications. Currently, eight sets have been deployed at critical stations, including Ningbo Baishawan, Rizhao Lanshan, and Nanjing Yizheng.
Operational data shows that under identical load conditions, the new bearings operate at temperatures over 11°C lower than previous models, significantly reducing equipment failure risks caused by overheating and improving system stability and reliability.
This achievement not only validates the capability of domestically produced high-end bearings in complex operational environments but also lays a technical and practical foundation for broader adoption. In the future, the results are expected to extend to other oil & gas transportation and industrial equipment sectors, further advancing China’s self-sufficiency in core components.
