Recently, Xu Xiaohong, Assistant President of CITIC Pacific Special Steel Group, led a delegation to visit Schaeffler's aviation bearing manufacturing base in Canada. The two sides held in-depth discussions on the innovative R&D and market expansion of aviation bearing steel.
Schaeffler spoke highly of CITIC Pacific Special Steel’s aviation bearing steel quality and its rapid progress in international market development, expressing strong eagerness to further deepen strategic cooperation in aviation materials. This visit aimed to leverage FAG Aerospace, a Schaeffler Germany subsidiary, as a strategic pivot to enhance collaboration in high-end bearing steel R&D and application.
Cooperation in the field of aviation bearing steel
Since 2001, CITIC Pacific Special Steel and Schaeffler have carried out all-round cooperation in product supply chain, cooperative research and development, cutting-edge technology exchange and other aspects.
In 2018, the two parties successfully developed a new type of bearing steel XCS-3# with ultra-high fatigue life. Schaeffler Germany evaluated the product: fatigue life 1150 hours (10.5 times the baseline), 2.5 times higher than pure steel in Germany and Japan.
In 2019, the two parties successfully cooperated to develop XCS-4#, which has a fatigue life of up to 2882 hours, leading the high-quality development of global bearing manufacturing.
In 2014, John Beswick, chairman of ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), highly praised Xingcheng Special Steel, a subsidiary of CITIC Pacific Special Steel: "It has developed from a small-scale production of bearing steel to a world leader in this field today."
