Wood Mackenzie released the "Ranking of Chinese Wind Turbine OEMs by Wind Turbine Order Volume: Statistics and Analysis for the First Half of 2025."

The report shows that the top four OEMs each exceeded the 10GW order volume mark, further increasing market concentration. The combined market share of the top four companies increased by 5 percentage points year-on-year.

Goldwind, Envision, Mingyang, and Windey ranked the top four in the Chinese market.

In the first half of 2025, Goldwind Technology continued to lead the domestic wind power market with an 18.2% market share. Envision Energy (16.6%), Mingyang Smart Energy (16.2%), and Windey Energy Technology Group (16.0%) followed closely behind. In the first half of the year, Chinese wind turbine OEMs received 7.7GW of overseas orders across 20 countries, a year-on-year increase of 51%. Envision Energy performed exceptionally well in overseas markets, ranking first with 4.9GW of new orders.

Dongfang Electric ranked first in offshore wind turbine orders for the first time, securing 1.5GW of new orders for its DEW-D16000-262 model. CRRC Corporation Limited also performed well, closely following with a 1GW offshore order. Sany Heavy Energy officially entered the offshore wind power market, securing its first offshore wind turbine order.

New wind turbine orders reached 80GW in the first half of 2025.

According to Wood Mackenzie, over half of the 166GW of onshore wind turbine orders signed in 2024 have already been converted into projects under construction. Offshore wind power projects are still lagging behind due to conflicts over sea use and the trend towards larger turbines.

New orders for onshore wind turbines reached 73GW, a year-on-year increase of 6%. The offshore wind power market achieved its best half-year performance since 2023, with new orders reaching 6GW.

Onshore and offshore wind turbine prices diverge.

In the first half of 2025, orders for onshore wind turbines larger than 10MW decreased by 14% year-on-year, while the share of 7-10MW models increased significantly, and demand for lower-speed models grew. The slowdown in the trend toward larger turbines has driven onshore wind turbine prices to rise for three consecutive quarters, with prices in the second quarter of 2025 up 4% from their lowest point in 2024.
