China Shengu First Ethylene BOG Compressor Completes Ultra-Low Temperature Testing

On September 9, 2025, the first low-temperature ethylene BOG compressor developed by SBW Group Reciprocating Machine Co., Ltd. successfully completed the ultra-low temperature load test in the factory. All performance indicators of the unit met or exceeded the design requirements, marking a major technological breakthrough for SBW in the field of high-end cryogenic equipment, filling the gap in this field in the form of setting sail.

The BOG compressor for this project is used in an ethane cracking unit at a Russian base. The unit's inlet temperature dropped to -102°C. To ensure smooth future on-site operation, the project team conducted a low-temperature load test on the unit. After seven months of thorough preparation, the team conducted multiple reviews of the commissioning process and finalized the commissioning plan. During the nine-hour commissioning process, the unit was tested at various inlet temperatures (ranging from -190°C to -70°C), demonstrating excellent operational adaptability. Finally, a stability test was conducted at an inlet temperature of -102°C, demonstrating smooth operation and successfully completing the entire low-temperature commissioning process, meeting project requirements.
