Tianhua Institute Successfully Commissions World First Self-Designed Horizontal Polymerizer for Nylon 66 in Single Attempt

Recently, the world's first horizontal nylon 66 polymerizer, independently designed and manufactured by Tianhua Institute, was successfully started up at the 100,000-ton/year nylon 66 plant of Liaoyang Petrochemical, producing qualified products! This breakthrough fills the gap in core equipment technology for high-performance new materials in my country, marking a new stage for the nylon 66 industry towards high-end self-reliance, and demonstrating the strong capabilities of state-owned enterprises in tackling core technologies.

This project is a key project of Tianhua Institute's 2024 "Overcoming Difficulties and Flying the Party Flag" on-chain research initiative, and also the opening work of Liaoyang Petrochemical's "Fourth Entrepreneurship." It shoulders the strategic mission of the national high-end chemical new materials strategy. Its successful implementation will generate significant social and economic benefits, empowering the high-quality development of the industry.

This horizontal polymerizer is the first of its kind globally, with no mature experience to follow, making its design and manufacturing extremely challenging. Guided by Party building principles, Tianhua Institute formed a core task force of Party members, working day and night, iterating repeatedly in key areas such as structural calculations, thermal field simulation, and process optimization, ultimately forming a safe and reliable original design solution and solving multiple technical difficulties. The project also won the title of "Outstanding Project of the Year in One Breakthrough in 2024" from Sinochem Equipment.

Nylon 66 is a core material in key fields such as automobiles, new energy, and 5G, and the horizontal polymerizer, as the "heart" of its production process, directly determines product quality and industrial competitiveness through its technological level. Tianhua Institute's latest research and development represents a technological breakthrough "from 0 to 1," highlighting the core technological advantages of the equipment:

—A global first, filling a gap: The first horizontal polymerization equipment in the continuous production of nylon 66, entirely independently developed without any prior experience to draw upon.

—Unique process, improving quality and efficiency: Suitable for continuous production of high-viscosity materials, efficiently removing small molecule water to ensure stable product quality.

—Cross-industry applicability, empowering multiple sectors: Can be applied to multiple polymer material fields, solving common technical challenges in the industry.

The state attaches great importance to the high-end development of the nylon industry, and has successively issued a number of industrial policies to support the growth and strengthening of my country's nylon industry. In the "Guidance Catalogue for Industrial Structure Adjustment (2019 Edition)," "development and production of new polyamides such as long-chain nylon and high-temperature resistant nylon" is explicitly listed as an "encouraged" project. The successful commissioning of this project is a vivid example of Tianhua Institute's active response to national strategies. It not only broke the foreign technological monopoly and propelled my country's nylon 66 industry towards "high-end" development, but also significantly enhanced the international competitiveness of my country's nylon 66 products, laying a solid foundation for the independent control of my country's high-end chemical new materials industry.
