Jianlong Steel and USTB Jointly Build R&D Center
On Apr. 9, Jianlong Iron & Steel Group and University of Science & Technology Beijing(USTB) held the unveiling ceremony for the United R&D Center of Special Steel Technology in USTB’s Jianlong Report Hall. Present at the ceremony were Xu jinwu, principal of USTB, Zhang zhixiang, Chairman of Jianlong Steel and other leaders from both sides. During the ceremony, Xu and Zhang signed a cooperation agreement.
According to the agreement, both sides will have further cooperation in the aspects of scientific research, technology developing, talents cultivation etc. USTB Metallurgy Engineering School will provide site, lab for the center. Jianlong is responsible for funding the center, guaranteeing its formal operating.
This center will attach great importance to discuss what kind of product-mix can meet Jianlong’s strategic plan and to solve technical troubles occurred in the process of production. With regard to management, the united administration commission comprised of high-level leaders from both sides and the twice-a-year working conference are expected to guarantee the smooth operation of this center.
With the headquarter in Fengtai District, Beijing, Jianlong Iron & Steel Group has five iron & steel companies such as Tangshan Jianlong, Ningbo Jianlong, Chengde Jianlong, Jilin Jianlong, and Heilongjiang Jianlong; and many subsidiaries, such as Jianlong Mine, Jianlong Chemical, Jianlong Cement, Automation Company and etc.
Jianlong Iron & Steel Group is a large iron & steel complex with ore mining, iron ore benefication, sintering, iron making, steel making, steel rolling, and cement, chemical, real estate, science research, economic and trade. Their total assets have exceeded 10 billion yuan. By the end of September 2003, they have employed 14,421 people. Their annual capacity of iron, steel and strip is 3.4 million tons.
