Recently news came from an automotive component processing enterprise in East China: the components of automotive steering system made of Baosteel's high strength cold heading steel disc unit passed the certification by a globally famous limousine manufacturer and would be applied in part of its high end models. It is the first time for Baosteel's special steel products to enter the component supply system of this limousine manufacturer.
Cold heading steel is processed into fasteners and connectors and widely applied in automobile and engineering machinery industries. Before that, Baosteel's high strength cold heading steel products after processing by the component supplier have successfully entered some famous European and American automakers' component supply systems in China, and realized stable batch supply.
The models produced by this limousine manufacturer enjoy good reputation worldwide. In recent years, its affiliated Chinese branch sped up the process of localization of automotive components on the premise of high quality manufacture in order to reduce the production cost. This measure brought development opportunities to domestic automotive component processors and steelmakers. In the selection of material for components of automotive steering system, this company imposes very strict requirements on material supplier's qualification and system construction.
While visiting an automotive component processor in East China, the production, sales and research team consisting of people from Baosteel International and Special Steel Business Unit learnt that this limousine manufacturer was conducting certification of the components manufactured by this enterprise. After the efforts for more than one year, the components of automotive steering system made of Baosteel's products passed the certification of this limousine manufacturer. Now the user has started to use Baosteel's products in batches for the manufacture of some high end car models.
