Dongfang Pump Industry helped the world highest altitude pumped storage power station to be successfully put into operation.

Recently, at the Golmud South Pass in Qinghai Province—witnessed by the majestic Kunlun Mountains and the vast Gobi Desert—the Golmud South Pass Pumped Storage Power Station, boasting the world's largest installed capacity and largest regulating reservoir capacity at an altitude of over 3,500 meters, successfully completed the installation and commissioning of its first batch of generating units and officially commenced operation!

This national key project, hailed as a "super power bank on the plateau," has a total installed capacity of 2.4 million kilowatts, with eight 300,000-kilowatt reversible generating units. Both the upper and lower reservoirs have a regulating capacity exceeding 16 million cubic meters. It is a crucial component of the national "14th Five-Year Plan" for clean energy base construction and holds significant strategic importance for building a new power system and ensuring energy security.

In this world-class project, Dongfang Pump Industry, with its superior product performance, efficient technical services, and localized support capabilities, became the core pump equipment supplier for the project and was officially awarded the title of "Excellent Supplier" by the contractor, China Water Resources and Hydropower No. 14 Bureau.

Facing the extreme environment of high altitude, frigid temperatures, oxygen deficiency, and strong ultraviolet radiation, the stability and reliability of the equipment faced severe challenges. Dongfang Pump Industry, leveraging over 30 years of experience in large-scale water conservancy and hydropower projects, tailored a highly efficient, reliable core pump system for the Nanshankou Power Station, adapted to high-altitude conditions. The core equipment configuration includes:

• DFSS single-stage double-suction split-case centrifugal pumps: 900kW × 3 units, 315kW × 3 units;

• DP single-suction multi-stage horizontal centrifugal pumps: 315kW × 6 units.

The Nanshankou Power Station is located in a desert area at an altitude of 3200-3700 meters, with oxygen levels less than 60% of those at sea level. Winter temperatures drop to -30℃, with a diurnal temperature range of 30℃, and ultraviolet radiation intensity 2-3 times that of lower altitude areas. In such extreme conditions, the Dongfang team, "lacking oxygen but not fighting spirit," demonstrated:

• A technical team was stationed on-site, providing full-process technical support;

• On-call service during installation and commissioning to ensure every detail was precise and handled correctly;
